About Chris Kocher

 

If you’ve lived in Grayslake for any amount of time over the last 30 years, you know Chris Kocher. She’s that talented elementary school teacher who taught you or your kids art. But all of that changed in 2012 when she retired from teaching and finally had time to pursue her own art.

 

Studying art at the University of Dayton and the University of Wisconsin in Madison, her emphasis was in ceramics and photography. Oil painting is something new for Kocher, but it comes naturally.

 

Her creativity and curiosity is reflected in the wide variety of subject matter she chooses. Still life, close-ups of nature, and travel images are among her subjects. After such a variety, Kocher sees her current and future art in plein air and impressionism.
